Hope
Look at this happy girl! You wouldn’t know it now, but when we found her, Hope was dying of starvation and severe wounds. Her story was not a happy start, but it has a happy ending.
When we found Hope, she was left under a container to die. She was infected with screw worms and was suffering from a huge wound on her neck and back. It was hard to imagine that a dog this damaged could be saved.
Les had to crawl under the container to get her and she was not cooperative at all at the time. She tried to bite him because she was terrified. People had failed her. We didn’t blame her for not trusting us at first.
After caring for her wounds and treating her for the worms, Hope started a slow recovery. During this time, we discovered that she also suffered from seizures that would range from a couple of minutes to nearly five minutes long. She had a series of relapses and with the help of our partnering vets, we helped find medication to help her.
Now, Hope is a sweet, loveable, trusting dog. Just look at how beautiful her coat is! It goes to show that a little love and care can go a long way.
Hope is still with us and still suffers from seizures every 10 days or so, but she is an otherwise happy, healthy girl!
